Klaserie Lowveld Trail/Kruger National Park

"A wilderness walking trail leaves no doubt in your mind as to what you have experienced. The close proximity of each encounter - being it large or small - makes you a part of the wilderness."

This is a dual destination trip with the first four nights being spent in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, thereafter, proceeding to the Kruger National Park for two or three nights.

Klaserie Private Nature Reserve is part of the greater Kruger Park Area and is located approximately 20 kilometres from the small town of Hoedspruit in Mpumalanga Province. The trails camp lies on roughly the same latitude as Satara Camp which is one of the main camps in the central region of Kruger National Park.

All the intermediate fences were removed over 30 years ago allowing free animal movement between Kruger Park and the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. All the larger mammal species of the Kruger Park - including black rhino and wild dogs occur in this region.

The emphasis of the trail is to spend as much time as possible on foot in the reserve but apart from the walking, we do also have the option for game driving in the open Land Rover. This does allow us to see a wider variety of habitats within Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. The different regions also provide the opportunity of encountering different animal and bird species. The bushveld also differs completely between the different seasons – summer with the green vegetation and the visiting migrant bird species and then winter with the brown colours and better visibility for game viewing. Animal species numbers also vary considerably between the different seasons with elephant numbers increasing during the dry winter months as they rely on the river system for drinking water. Many of the antelope species have their young during the summer months and the bush is alive with excited babies finding their feet.

On the final morning, after packing, we depart from the Klaserie Camp making our way to the Kruger National Park. There are different options for the entry gates into the park and also the overnight camps that are to be visited. This will depend on accommodation availability as well as the interests of the guests. We will spend two or three nights in this famous National Park.

This combination trip is ideally suited for guests who would fly into Hoedspruit Airport prior to the trail and fly out again on the final day. The vehicle that is used in Kruger Park would be the most suited combination for the group size.

The price of this trail will include the full Klaserie Lowveld Trail, all meals, walks and game drives, accommodation in the tented trails camp, accommodation in Kruger Park Camps, park entry and conservation fees in both reserves and basic equipment. Drinks are excluded and may be purchased en-route and in the Kruger Park camp shop.

NOTE:

Format of the above trips may change according to client needs and/or destinations that you may want to visit.
